Since HHS announced modifications to Section 1557 of the ACA that, among other things, removed protections against discrimination in health coverage based on sex stereotyping and gender identity, we at UPMC Health Plan have received many inquiries as to how or if this change will impact our existing coverage. Our commitment to nondiscrimination will not change based on the roll-back of Section 1557 or the narrowing of sex- and gender- related regulatory protections.
