Telehealth benefits

UPMC for Life members can connect with participating doctors and providers face-to-face through a video appointment. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer that can show video and has a microphone.

Your copay will be the same or less than if you were seeing your doctor in person. Your provider must be in the same state as you during your visit.

UPMC AnywhereCare

With UPMC AnywhereCare you have 24/7 access to talk with a UPMC provider* through an online video visit.

You have the option to talk with a doctor, personal counselor, or pharmacist through an online video visit. You’ll receive a personal care plan and a prescription, if needed, from a UPMC provider.

Use UPMC AnywhereCare for:

  • Virtual visit — For nonemergency conditions such as colds and flu, sinus infections, coughs and sore throats, urinary symptoms, back pain, sunburn, pink eye, and poison ivy.
  • Personal counseling — UPMC for Life members get six personal counseling sessions per concern per year at no cost.
  • Ask a Pharmacist — Our pharmacists can help you understand each of your medications, suggest ways to save money, and answer your questions. They can even talk with your doctor if you are experiencing side effects.

*UPMC for Life members who are in Pennsylvania at the time of a virtual visit may select a UPMC-employed provider, subject to availability and discretion of the provider. Members located outside of Pennsylvania at the time of service will receive care from a provider employed or contracted by Online Care Network II PC (OCN), also known as Amwell Medical Group. OCN is not an affiliate of UPMC. Providers are not available to treat members who are in Puerto Rico.

UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line

If you have a health concern and need immediate assistance, UPMC's registered nurses can help. After discussing your symptoms, the nurse will help you determine what level of care you need. The UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line will save you time by helping you get care quickly and it could save you money by helping you avoid a higher copay. This service is free for members and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just call 1-866-918-1591 (TTY: 711) and have your member ID card ready.

UPMC nurses who answer calls are licensed to assist members in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Members must be located in one of those states when calling the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line. The UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line is not a substitute for medical care. If an emergency arises, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Nurses cannot answer plan or benefit questions. Please call the Member Services phone number on the back of your member ID card for nonclinical inquiries.

UPMC for Life has a contract with Medicare to provide HMO, HMO SNP, and PPO plans. The HMO SNP plans have a contract with the PA State Medical Assistance program. Enrollment in UPMC for Life depends on contract renewal.
