Enhanced Subsidies through the Inflation Reduction Act

How can extended enhanced subsidies through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 help?

The Inflation Reduction Act extends subsidies for many people who purchase a plan on Pennie®. The subsidies can significantly lower the cost of your health insurance.

Who in Pennsylvania can sign up for a health plan?

All Pennsylvanians can shop for a plan, whether you are shopping through the UPMC Health Plan Marketplace or are already covered through Pennie®. If you have access to affordable employer-based coverage, you may not be eligible for financial assistance through enhanced subsidies.

I bought a plan on the UPMC Health Plan Marketplace. What if I switch to a plan offered on Pennie?

If you purchased coverage directly through UPMC Health Plan and switch to a UPMC Advantage, UPMC VirtualCare, or UPMC First Care plan offered on Pennie, the out-of-pocket expenses you may have already spent in deductibles and co-insurance will carry over from your prior UPMC Advantage, UPMC VirtualCare, UPMC First Care coverage and count toward your new plan for the remainder of the plan year.

When can I sign up?

Open Enrollment is Nov. 1, 2024, through Jan. 15, 2025.
