Effective Nov. 29, 2023, the Prescription for Wellness order set will be updated to include the following enhancements:

- Addition of a “Diabetes & Metabolic Health” category that includes following topics:
- Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist – Nurses will engage with members to establish condition-based knowledge and educate on symptom management, medication, and self-care.
- Diabetes Health Coaching – Health coaches provide longitudinal coaching support to address lifestyle skills and behaviors associated with prevention and management of diabetes and other chronic conditions.
- Diabetes Prevention Program – Designed to support individuals who are at a higher risk for developing T2DM in the future based on certain risk factors such as weight and hypertension.
- Addition of “Employment” as a topic in the Patient/Family Support Services category

As of October 1, 2025, UPMC Health Plan continues to accept the submission of telehealth claims. Providers may conduct telehealth visits for UPMC Health Plan members in all UPMC Insurance products.
