J.D. Power: Commercial

UPMC Health Plan announced today that it has once again been recognized as #1 in member satisfaction among commercial health plans in Pennsylvania by J.D. Power. This is the fifth time that UPMC Health Plan has earned this recognition.

The J.D. Power U.S. Commercial Member Health Plan Study, now in its 18th year, was redesigned for 2024. The study measures satisfaction among members of 147 health plans in 22 regions throughout the United States based on performance in eight core dimensions on a poor-to-perfect rating scale. UPMC Health Plan has the highest overall satisfaction score in the state and leads all other PA carriers in the following seven dimensions:

  • Trust
  • Digital channels
  • Ease of doing business
  • Helps save time and money
  • Product/Coverage offerings
  • People
  • Resolving problems or complaints

CMS Star Ratings

UPMC for Life is proud to have earned an excellent 5 out of 5 stars from Medicare for 2022, 2023, and 2024! This award places us among the highest-rated Medicare plans in the nation. You can use the star ratings to see how we are doing on quality and performance compared to other Medicare plans.

Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2023–2024 Corporate Equality Index

UPMC Health Plan and Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (Community Care) have again earned 100 percent scores for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation's 2023–2024 Corporate Equity Index, (CEI), the nation's foremost measurement of corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQIA+. This is the sixth consecutive year UPMC and the fifth for Community Care for earning 100 percent.

National Business Group on Health

UPMC and UPMC Health Plan were honored with the Business Group on Health's prestigious "Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-Being Award" for advancing employee well-being through comprehensive, innovative benefits and initiatives. This is the 14th year that UPMC and UPMC Health Plan have earned the Excellence in Health & Well-Being Award.

U.S. News & World Report

UPMC for Life was named a "Best Insurance Company for Medicare Advantage" in Pennsylvania for 2024 by U.S. News & World Report (10-20-23). U.S. News & World Report used the Medicare star ratings data for its rankings, including Medicare’s recent five-out-of-five overall star ratings of both UPMC for Life's HMO and PPO plans for 2024. UPMC for Life has been named a "Best Insurance Company for Medicare Advantage" in Pennsylvania for 2022, 2023, and 2024.
