Pittsburgh (Nov. 1, 2023) – Western Pennsylvanians who are looking to purchase their own insurance coverage for 2024 can select from among the region’s lowest-priced Individual plans when they choose UPMC Health Plan. This year’s offerings include the new UPMC First Care™ plan, which has $0 copays for many initial doctor office visits, all behavioral health office visits, and all urgent care visits through the UPMC AnywhereCare app. UPMC Health Plan also expanded the availability of its telehealth-focused plan, UPMC VirtualCare, to serve members in 16 western Pennsylvania counties.
UPMC First Care is available to anyone who purchases or renews an Individual or Family plan through Pennie® or the UPMC Health Plan Marketplace.
"Our 2024 Marketplace plans prioritize affordable access to care with innovative supports that meet the unique health care needs of Pennsylvanians. UPMC First Care puts our members first with flexible options that prioritize highly affordable access to our network of physical and behavioral health providers," said Kim Orth, President, UPMC Health Plan Commercial Products. "By removing copays for those initial in-person and virtual visits with doctors, we are making it easier than ever for members to get the care and services needed to keep them healthy."
The UPMC First Care plan prioritizes cost savings by making it easier for members to access care. As such, members enjoy $0 copays for their first in-person and virtual primary care visits, $0 copays for their first in-person and virtual specialist visits, and $0 copays for all behavioral health office visits and urgent care visits through UPMC AnywhereCare.
UPMC VirtualCare has a $0 copay for virtual visits with providers who participate in the UPMC Partner or Select networks. The copay is applicable to wellness, primary care, urgent care, and behavioral health visits. Members can even see a specialist for a reduced copay. UPMC VirtualCare offers Bronze and Silver plan options, and it will expand into nine additional Pennsylvania counties for 2024. This means it will be available to residents of Allegheny, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Clinton, Erie, Fayette, Lawrence, Lycoming, Mercer, Somerset, Tioga, Venango, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
"We continue to see how telehealth not only offers convenience for many health care services, but also greatly expands access to care," said Orth. "With that in mind, our UPMC VirtualCare plan can help individuals in rural or other areas access care more quickly, more conveniently, and more affordably."
