Pittsburgh (Nov. 4, 2022) – With Open Enrollment underway, UPMC Health Plan announced today that it is again offering western Pennsylvania’s lowest-cost Individual Marketplace plans with full in-network access to UPMC providers. This year’s offerings and benefits include a virtual-first plan with zero-dollar copays for virtual primary care and mental health services and free health coaching sessions.
Open Enrollment for Individual coverage under the state-based exchange, Pennie®, runs through Dec. 15 for coverage that begins on Jan. 1. UPMC Health Plan currently serves more than 100,000 Pennsylvanians through Marketplace plans.
“We remain committed to the Exchange and to meeting the evolving needs of Pennsylvanians who depend upon Pennie for affordable access to quality care and award-winning member services. That’s why our 2023 Individual plans have strengthened coverage for in-demand services, such as mental health, wellness, and telehealth,” said Kim Orth, President, Commercial Products, UPMC Health Plan. “These valuable enhancements include free counseling sessions through LifeSolutions®, free health coaching sessions, and access to digital tools like our nationally recognized RxWell app to help manage stress and anxiety.”
Access to high-quality, affordable health care is further enhanced by the recent multiyear extension of American Rescue Plan subsidies.
“The combination of our affordable plan design, strong clinical networks, and the extended subsidies makes access to quality care an exceptional value,” said Orth.
Virtual-First Plan Option: UPMC VirtualCare
UPMC Health Plan is committed to offering innovative insurance plans that meet Pennsylvanians’ changing needs. As such, the Health Plan will continue to offer UPMC VirtualCare—its virtual-first product—to Individual enrollees.
“Our VirtualCare option provides members with online access to doctors and other providers when and where care is needed,” said Orth. “And it’s backed up with full in-network access—with cost sharing—for in-person visits when needed or desired.”
UPMC VirtualCare offers both out-of-pocket savings and convenience. It features $0 copays for virtual primary, urgent, and behavioral health care visits with in-network providers, plus reduced copays for virtual specialist visits. UPMC VirtualCare is available for Marketplace enrollees in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Erie, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. It will also be available to employers in the small-group market in Allegheny and Erie counties.
