UPMC for Life Celebrates National Senior Health & Fitness Day®

Pittsburgh (May 19, 2021) – UPMC for Life members and anyone aged 60 and older are invited to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium to participate in the 28th annual National Senior Health & Fitness day on Wednesday, May 26.

In Pennsylvania, UPMC for Life, the Medicare Advantage plan of UPMC Health Plan, is the state sponsor for National Senior Health & Fitness Day for the 14th consecutive year.

“For the past 14 years, we have been honored to be the state sponsor of National Senior Health & Fitness Day in Pennsylvania. UPMC for Life is excited to coordinate events across the state and we encourage seniors to get involved so they can lead an active and healthy lifestyle,” said Diane Holder, President and CEO of UPMC Health Plan.

Event Participation Throughout Pennsylvania
UPMC for Life will host four events around the state on May 26—including this event at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. UPMC for Life members and anyone aged 60 and older can receive free admission to the Zoo all day. Members can enjoy self-guided walkalongs, where they can receive a free t-shirt. The UPMC for Life Health Care Concierge team will also be on hand to help schedule COVID-19 vaccine and mammogram appointments.

UPMC for Life is also hosting National Senior Health & Fitness Day events at the Riverside Park in Greenville, Lakemont Park in Altoona, and the Berks Encore Strausstown Center in Strausstown.

All events start at 10 a.m. and are free to UPMC for Life members and anyone 60 or older. The following COVID-19 safety measures will be in place during each event:

• Face masks are required in both indoor and outdoor locations for all visitors over the age of two.
• Physical distancing markers will be in place around entrances and anywhere people gather.

And if participants can’t join in-person, they are encouraged to engage in activities that get them moving like walking, biking, or gardening.
