UPMC for Life Hosts National Senior Health & Fitness Day at Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
PITTSBURGH, PA (May 14, 2019) – UPMC for Life members and anyone aged 60 and older can receive free admission to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for the 26th anniversary of National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wed., May 29, 2019. Nationally, more than 100,000 older adults will participate in health promotion events at more than 1,000 locations.
In Pennsylvania, UPMC for Life, the Medicare Advantage plan of UPMC Health Plan, is the state sponsor for National Senior Health & Fitness Day for the 12th consecutive year. UPMC for Life will host five events around the state that day, including this one at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Screenings for bone density and blood pressure readings will be available for UPMC for Life members who bring their active ID card.* Health Care Concierges will be available to discuss UPMC for Life plan benefits and explain how members can join a participating fitness facility at no additional cost. Members can also ask pharmacists questions about prescription drugs.
Entertainment includes Zumba and belly dancing demonstrations as well as karaoke singing, line dancing, and pickleball.

UPMC for Life is also hosting National Senior Health & Fitness Day events at the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona, Blair County; at the Erie Zoo, Erie County; at the Harrisburg City Island in Harrisburg, Dauphin County; and at the Lycoming Mall in Pennsdale, Lycoming County.

*Preventive screenings are available for UPMC for Life members only. Members must bring their member ID card to receive preventive screenings. Non-members will not be able to receive preventive screenings.
