Many members will see only modest cost increases in Northeastern Pa.
PITTSBURGH (Oct. 22, 2018) – UPMC Health Plan will once again offer among the lowest cost health insurance plans on Pennsylvania’s Health Insurance Marketplace, including the lowest cost Silver option in 38 Pennsylvania counties where UPMC Health Plan offers individual coverage. UPMC Health Plan is among the lowest cost health insurance plans in every county in which it offers individual coverage and has some of the lowest cost individual plans outside of the Marketplace as well. All plans offer in-network access to UPMC.
Open enrollment for 2018 begins on Nov. 1, 2018 and continues through Dec. 15, 2018. Plans sold during Open Enrollment start Jan. 1, 2019. UPMC Health Plan is offering nine plans, two of which are outside of the marketplace (or off exchange), in its Partner Network, including at least one plan in each metal category. Four plan offerings, one of which is outside of the marketplace (or off exchange) will be offered in its Premium Network. The Partner Network will be offered to residents of Clinton, Lycoming, and Tioga Counties. The Premium Network will be offered to residents of Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lycoming, Luzerne, Northumberland, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, and Wyoming Counties.

Anyone who does not have insurance is encouraged to see if they qualify for financial assistance. Members who had a 2018 Marketplace insurance plan will receive two 2019 re-enrollment letters by Nov. 1, including one from UPMC Health Plan and one from the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Health Insurance Marketplace letter includes anything a member must do to get a premium tax credit for 2019, such as sending tax or income information.
Beginning Nov. 1, members can update their 2019 Marketplace application with any changes. If members don't log in, update their application and enroll in a plan by Dec. 15, 2018, they will be automatically enrolled in the 2019 plan that is most similar to their 2018 plan.
