UPMC Health Plan Names Brendan Harris Regional Vice President of Government Programs
PITTSBURGH (Jan. 22, 2018) – Brendan Harris has been named regional vice president of government programs for UPMC Health Plan and the other UPMC entities making up the Insurance Services Division.
As UPMC Health Plan looks to continue to expand its footprint across the Commonwealth, Harris will be responsible for leading business and product development efforts in central and northeastern Pennsylvania, as well as in the Lehigh Valley.
“Brendan’s public policy expertise and proven track record of health care reform will be assets to UPMC Health Plan members across the Commonwealth,” said John Lovelace, president of government programs for UPMC Health Plan. “His leadership role in negotiating a Medicaid expansion plan and implementing the statewide component of the Affordable Care Act will be invaluable as UPMC Health Plan continues to grow its government programs across Pennsylvania.”
For the past decade, Harris has served as a core member of the Department of Human Services (DHS) leadership team, including serving as the executive deputy secretary of DHS since 2012; a role in which he was responsible for overseeing human service programs and ensuring the quality of those programs for vulnerable Pennsylvanians.
Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh. He will work out of UPMC Health Plan’s offices in Camp Hill, Pa.
