UPMC for Life to Host National Senior Health & Fitness Day at the Penn State Altoona Slep Student Center

ALTOONA, Pa. (May 23, 2016) – UPMC for Life members and anyone age 65 and over is invited to the Penn State Altoona Slep Student Center to participate in activities that are part of the 23rd annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.

For the tenth consecutive year, UPMC for Life, the Medicare Advantage plan of UPMC Health Plan, is the Pennsylvania state sponsor for National Senior Health & Fitness Day. UPMC for Life will serve as host at four events around the state that day, including this one at the Penn State Altoona Slep Student Center. Nationally, more than 100,000 older adults will participate in health promotion events at more than 1,000 locations.

The event, which begins at 10 a.m., will get participants moving with Healthy Steps in Motion and Zumba demonstrations, as well as walks around the campus pond. In addition, visitors can receive preventive services including a bone density screening, balance screening, and blood pressure reading.

UPMC for Life members will also learn how they can join a participating fitness facility at no additional cost through our health and wellness program.
