PITTSBURGH (Oct. 16, 2015) – UPMC Health Plan will offer a wide range of Qualified Health Plans (QHP) on the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace, including some of the Marketplace’s lowest-cost plans. For the second year in a row, UPMC Health Plan will offer consumers the lowest cost silver option in the Pittsburgh and Erie Region.
Once again this year, UPMC Health Plan will provide three networks from which consumers can choose: Premium, Select, and Partner networks. The Partner Network includes all UPMC facilities and physicians plus a few additional partners, and offers consumers who reside in Allegheny, Bedford, Blair, and Erie counties the lowest premium option. The Select Network is available to residents of the five-county region of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland. In addition to UPMC physicians and facilities, the Select Network includes our community partners: Butler Memorial Hospital, Excela Health System, Grove City Medical Center, Heritage Valley Health System, Monongahela Valley Hospital, and Washington Health System. The UPMC Premium Network is available to people who live anywhere in the 29 counties of western Pennsylvania and includes all UPMC physicians and facilities, the community partners mentioned above, as well as numerous independent providers and facilities.
UPMC Health Plan will offer eight plans in each of the three networks, including a catastrophic plan and at least one plan in each metallic category. Prospective members can start “window shopping” – that is, comparing prices and plans online – on Oct. 18, 2015. Open enrollment begins Nov. 1, 2015.
“For 2016, we look forward to enrolling many new consumers who will join the tens of thousands of individuals who are already UPMC Health Plan Marketplace members,” said Adam Pittler, Director of Product Development for UPMC Health Plan. “Our plans offer great value and access to high-quality health care.”
