PITTSBURGH (July 10, 2015) – Exciting activities for children and parents, all with a health and wellness twist, are on the agenda from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 for Healthy Family Day at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh sponsored by UPMC Health Plan.
From noon to 12:30 p.m., there will be a UPMC Health Plan Dining Smart Community-themed Cook It! program in the Museum’s Big Red Room Cafe, including free healthy treats and recipe cards to take home. A Family Dance Party – one of the museum’s most popular activities – will take place with a live D.J. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Museum’s Theater.
Throughout the day, families can take scavenger hunts around the Museum — tracking their steps using pedometers — for a chance to win a prize. Using their favorite fruits and vegetables for inspiration, children will enjoy making artwork and sculptures in the MAKESHOP and in the Studio. Families can experience the joy of gardening by planting their own herbs in a pot at the “Let’s Move Pittsburgh” table. Plus, visitors will be among the first to see Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit — which made its world premiere at the Children’s Museum in June.
Pediatric health professionals from UPMC Health Plan will also be available throughout the day to answer families’ questions about children’s health issues such as autism, learning disabilities, dental care, and more.
“The Children’s Museum is proud to have UPMC Health Plan as a long-time partner. Working together since 2010, this great partnership has brought quality health, wellness activities and education to thousands of families in southwestern Pennsylvania,” said Bill Schlageter, Director of Marketing at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. “Children and families have come to look forward to these activities throughout the year and we are thrilled to team up with UPMC Health Plan on July 25!”
