UPMC Health Plan Promotes Geoffrey Neimark, M.D. to Chief Medical Officer of Community Care Behavioral Health

New role provides oversight for physicians, psychologists, and Quality Management and Pharmacy teams

Philadelphia (June 8, 2021) – UPMC Health Plan today announced that Geoffrey Neimark, M.D., has been named Chief Medical Officer for Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (Community Care). In this new role, he will continue to provide leadership for staff physicians, psychologists, and the Quality Management and Pharmacy team serving Community Care, a UPMC-affiliated nonprofit behavioral health managed care organization.

Most recently, Dr. Neimark was Associate Vice President of Community Care, where he oversaw multiple clinical teams. He also served as interim Regional Medical Director for the York/Adams and Berks County Community Care contracts.

"Dr. Neimark brings to his position strong clinical experience and a proven ability to work with health care providers, counties and others involved in delivering comprehensive behavioral health care and services to Medicaid members," said Dr. Matt Hurford, President and CEO. “His new role will enhance his already successful work with the Community Care team and our community partners."

Dr. Neimark joined Community Care in 2019 as Senior Medical Director and Regional Medical Director. Before joining Community Care, Dr. Neimark served as Chief Medical Officer of Community Behavioral Health located in Philadelphia.

Dr. Neimark is a board-certified psychiatrist with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is currently on faculty as a Clinical Assistant professor in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed his residency and was Chief Resident of Psychiatry. He earned his doctorate from SUNY Downstate and completed his bachelor's degree at Haverford College.

Dr. Neimark lives in Philadelphia with his wife, two young sons, and their dog.
