Happy New Year! We typically begin a new year by reflecting on the year past and envisioning what lies ahead. Saying 2020 was unprecedented is, perhaps, an understatement. But there were also things for which we can be grateful—and achievements that were made possible through collaboration.

At the UPMC Center for Social Impact, we’re proud of the work we accomplished in 2020, and we anticipate 2021 will be a year of opportunity for our partners and for us.

Through a grant from Partner4Work and in collaboration with the Neighborhood Resilience Project, we began recruitment for Freedom House 2.0 to train unemployed and underemployed individuals to be the next generation of community paramedics.

Our supportive housing program for homeless UPMC Health Plan members—Cultivating Health for Success—served more than twice as many members in 2020, thanks to a strong collaboration with Community Human Services and our care coordination team.
