Pathways to Work uses a personal approach to connect unemployed and underemployed people with career opportunities at UPMC and UPMC Health Plan.

UPMC Pathways to Work recruiters can:
- Give advice on how to create a resume.
- Help you prepare for interviews.
- Assess your skill set.
- Connect you with free training opportunities.
- Help you apply for jobs at UPMC and UPMC Health Plan.
We can also guide you to workforce development and job training programs that can prepare you for a job in or outside of the UPMC system. These programs develop core skills that are valued in health care, food service, professional administration, construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and other fields.
UPMC and UPMC Health Plan are committed to hiring and keeping a diverse workforce. Our Pathways to Work program provides career opportunities for those who are struggling to find gainful employment where they can stay and grow.
We also offer these focused programs through Pathways to Work:
UPMC Pathways for Veterans
This program is for veterans, active duty and reserve military members, and their families. Read more about career resources and workforce development programs at UPMC. They are tailored to your unique needs as a current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
UPMC Pathways for Students
This program is for current high school and college students who are looking for a chance to start their career at UPMC. We offer flexible part-time and full-time jobs that can work around your class schedule. Recent graduates can also join this program.
What types of jobs could be available?
UPMC and UPMC Health Plan often have job openings in clinical fields and fields that do not require medical training.*
Jobs may include these and more:

- Project management and data analysis
- Supply chain management
- Insurance (claims and benefits)
- Information technology
- Finance and accounting
- Human resources
- Safety and security
- Nursing and clinical support
- Housekeeping and maintenance

Who is eligible?
You do not need to be a member of UPMC Health Plan to participate in Pathways to Work.
UPMC Pathways to Work is open to those who:
- Are 18 or older.**
- Are unemployed or underemployed
- Have barriers to finding and keeping work, such as intellectual or physical disabilities.
How to get started
There are two ways to contact us. Choose the one that works best for you!
- Fill out our referral form to hear from a Pathways to Work recruiter.
A Pathways to Work recruiter will respond within a few business days. They will talk to you about the UPMC and UPMC Health Plan job opportunities that are available in your area and match your interests. - View our calendar to schedule a phone call appointment with a Pathways to Work recruiter.
Appointments can be scheduled in 15-minute time blocks, and you can choose a date and time that works for you.
